A SCULPTURAL COMMERCIAL BATHROOM with depth and drama. Designed by Jennifer James for a commercial space in Eugene, Oregon, this stunning powder room redefines the expectations of functional design. Immersive in tone, elevated in detail, and grounded in purpose, it delivers a boutique-level experience within a high-use setting.
Where Drama Meets Design
In most commercial buildings, bathrooms are an afterthought. But here, the ordinary becomes extraordinary. The dark, moody palette is softened by ambient light and carefully balanced textures, offering a rare sense of stillness. Refined yet approachable, the design invites pause, reflection, and a subtle shift in experience.
Materials That Define the Mood
At the core of the visual story is Elysium Porcelain Mystic Ocean, a stone-look porcelain tile used in both matte and polished finishes. Installed in large format, the tile evokes natural movement and moody elegance—layering visual depth with commercial-grade durability.

The envelope of the space is further enriched by Sherwin Williams Iron Ore, a deep charcoal that brings warmth, gravity, and quiet sophistication to the room.
Refined Fixtures & Thoughtful Details
A floating vanity provides sculptural simplicity, topped with a Kohler semi-vessel porcelain sink—a piece that blends modern form with lasting function. The Grohe single-handle faucet in polished chrome adds sleek precision and timeless appeal.
Framing the six-foot beveled-edge mirror are Hubbardton Forge Dune Sconces in a Natural Iron finish. These hand-forged lighting elements create vertical rhythm and subtle drama, casting a warm glow that softens the depth of the surrounding materials. More than task lighting, they serve as architectural jewelry.
